A few years back I went on a weeklong trip to NYC and tried to hit as many amazing spots as I could. One of the best was Birdland Jazz Club. If you have an image of an old school, dimly lit club full of amazing music…then you’ve got it right.

Named after Charlie Parker, who was known to his friends as “Bird”, Birdland has existed in one form or another since 1949 and you can feel the history as soon as you step inside.

The menu has a host of options with everything from Mac ‘n Cheese to Strip Steak to Gumbo (I recommend the steak personally), and there are shows just about every night featuring an amazing host of jazz bands and singers.

They are family friendly as well, kids are welcome to join starting at 10 years old. Which led to an amazing experience for my jazz loving kid who still wears his Birdland shirt to this day.
